The Committee for Humanitarian Assistance to Iranian Refugees (CHAIR) is an
independent, non-profit organization founded in 1991. CHAIR's mission is to
empower Iranian immigrants to promote and protect their rights within a
participatory framework, locally and globally.
CHAIR has been a member of The International Federation of
Iranian Refugees and Immigrants Councils (IFIRIC) since 1994.
Each year, CHAIR assists hundreds of low-income refugees, asylum seekers and
documented and undocumented immigrants irrespective of gender, religion,
political opinion or sexuality. CHAIR has a non-hierarchical, participatory
organizational structure and is led by a four person steering committee and
volunteer activists. CHAIR is funded by private foundations and individual
donors.
