Mysticism of Love and its Greatest Adherents
I failed to see much to portray the great role Iran has played in the
advancement of mysticism in the world.
In America today, hundreds of
pseudo-mystics claim the ability to rid multitudes of depressed souls
from the abys of spiritual confusion. Bulk of these claims, however,
are only aimed at picking the pockets of thousands of unaware and
unenlightened followers. The best service that one can render to heal
the spiritual problems of the American public is a sincere effort to
bring them in contact with the brilliant teachings of such luminaries
as Roumi, Bayazid Bastami,
Attar-e-Neyshapouri and tens of other
great teachers of human psyche. The ideal fashion to accomplish this,
is the easy-to-understand portrayal of the seven stages of meditation,
leading to the great destination of oneness with God.
A number of Indian 'gurus' with very limited knowledge
and understanding of mysticism of love or 'Erfan-e- Aasheghan-e-
Eslam', have succeeded in gaining access to thousands of followers.
This is despite the fact that all these self-styled prophets of
fashion have offered the American public is an outlandish combination
of the thoughts of such western philosphers such as Hegel and Kant
with a twisted version of the mysticism of love.
